AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of North Georgia baseball player
Noah Darden has been named the Peach Belt Conference's Baseball Freshman of the Week as announced on Monday afternoon by the league office.
Darden hit .571 with a 1.000 slugging percentage in his first two collegiate games against Mars Hill over the weekend. The freshman outfielder/DH from Cumming, Ga., went 3-for-4 with three doubles in his first game, scoring a run as UNG won 12-4. He added another hit in his second game, scoring again. He drew two walks for a .667 on-base percentage and is tied for third in the league in doubles.
The Nighthawks return to action on Friday, Feb. 9 with a 3:00 p.m. game against Salem at Bob Stein Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park. The weekend series is billed as Alumni Weekend and is set to honor 25 years of North Georgia baseball.
