PHOENIX - The University of North Georgia women's tennis team is preparing for the 2024 season with a No. 11 national ranking with the release of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division II Women's Preseason Top 25 Coaches Poll on Wednesday.

Kent Norsworthy's team is one of four Peach Belt Conference schools in the initial top-25 with Flagler (No. 4), Columbus State (No. 7) and Georgia College & State University (No. 16) joining the Nighthawks in the poll.
Barry is the preseason No. 1 as the Bucs will look to defend their 2023 National Championship, which was their sixth in a row, eighth overall.Â

UNG finished last season with a 16-7 overall record, making their third straight appearance in the Round of 32 and winning the program's ninth NCAA Tournament match in its six straight appearances. The 2022-23 campaign was highlighted by their third-place finish at the ITA Indoor Nationals and their seven wins over nationally-ranked opponents.
The Nighthawks were ranked at high at No. 6 nationally last year.
North Georgia opens the spring semester schedule on Saturday, Feb. 3 with a non-conference road trip to Carson-Newman. Â
