GAINESVILLE, Ga. — A third straight third-place finish wrapped up the NCAA Southeast Regional Preview for the University of North Georgia cross country team. It was the second of three hosted events for UNG, as
Claire Mills and
Emily McBride highlighted the day with strong performances.
Mills finished first on the team, earning a fourth-place finish after recording a time of 23:04 Just four seconds later, North Georgia's second finisher crossed the line, this time McBride, giving the Nighthawks two in the top five finishers after McBride's time of 23:08.
Another pair of Nighthawks crossed the line together, as
Elissa Oliver grabbed an 18th place finish after finishing with a time of 24:17.
Anna Chasteen was on the heels of Oliver at the line, finishing three seconds later with a time of 24:20, grabbing 19th place.
Nealeigh Broadwell finished in 30th after recording a time of 25:00.5 as
Grace Opsahl (52nd),
Maggie Davidson (57th) and
Ashley Pope (68th) rounded out the rest of the Nighthawk finishers.
Anderson took home the team title with 31 points while Sabrina Fleig of Lenoir-Rhyne won the individual title finishing with a time of 22:40. L-R finished second with 54 while the Nighthawks recorded 75 team points.
North Georgia moves ahead, running in the regular season finale in Spartanburg, S.C., at the USC Upstate XC Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 14) at 9:00 a.m.
