Ananthasane Collects Individual NCAA Regional Bid; UNG Set to Host 2023 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf South Regional

INDIANAPOLIS – For the third consecutive year, University of North Georgia women's golfer Maddie Ananthasane has earned an individual spot into the NCAA Division II Women's Golf South Regional, the association announced Monday afternoon.
 
In conjunction with the Greater Gainesville Sports Alliance, the University of North Georgia will serve as host of the NCAA Division II Women's Golf South Regional at Gainesville's Chattahoochee Golf Club from May 8-10. 
 
Ananthasane is the second seeded individual in the tournament.
 
The 12 teams set to convene on Gainesville to content for a regional title are Lynn, Nova Southeastern, Anderson, Rollins, Tampa, Lee, Limestone, Barry, Flagler, Wingate, Lander and UNC Pembroke.

Eleven of the 12 teams in the tournament are ranked nationally by Golfstat, including four in the top 10 alone. Lynn is ranked No. 1, Nova Southeastern is No. 3, Anderson is at No. 5, and Rollins is No. 8. This regional has produced 18 national champions and 14 runners-up in the 22-year history of the championship. 
 
Individually, Ananthasane, is joined by Amelie Alacantra (Eckerd), Loren Perez (Florida Southern), Alia Scotka (West Florida), Loa Johannsson (Embry Riddle) and Ainsley Cowart (West Georgia). 
 
This marks the fourth year in program history that North Georgia has sent an individual to the regional round.
 
The top five finishing teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from the South Regional will advance to the finals, May 16-20 at Fox Run Golf Course in Eureka, Missouri. The finals will be hosted by University Missouri-St. Louis.
