Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 12 University of North Georgia women's tennis team fell in its Peach Belt Conference match at Georgia College and State University. The Nighthawks dropped the doubles point and couldn't recover, falling 4-3.
Viktorie Wojcikova and
Johanna Lippert took the #1 flight 6-3, but North Georgia fell in the next two flights to go down 1-0. GCSU took the #1 and #2 singles flights taking a commanding 3-0 lead before
Anna Markvartova,
Angelina Linnikova and
Ashley Moinard battled back to tie it at 3-3. The Bobcats would take a tightly contested battle in the #6 flight, ending the Nighthawks' comeback bid.
Markvartova won in three sets, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1, followed by Linnikova's 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory. Moinard took North Georgia's lone straight-set victory finishing with a 6-2, 7-5 victory to get UNG on the board.
The Nighthawks fall to 13-5 on the season and 4-2 in Peach Belt Conference play.
