DAHLONEGA — University of North Georgia men's basketball player AJ White has been named as the Chick-fil-A Nighthawk of the Week after helping lead UNG to two wins in three games over the Thanksgiving break, highlighted by a 32-point performance against 25th-ranked Florida Southern.

White, the reigning Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year, opened up the week with 23 points, four rebounds and four assists in a win over Tusculum. 

The sophomore guard followed it up with 11 points in a loss to Saint Leo, earning five steals in the game. The final game of the week ended with a 32-point effort against No. 25 Florida Southern, shooting a perfect 6-6 from beyond the arc.

The Nighthawk of the Week title sponsor is Chick-fil-A of Dawsonville, with each week's winner being treated to a complimentary combo meal at the Dawsonville restaurant. Beginning in the fall of 2014, the UNG athletic department began honoring one student-athlete each Monday morning as the Nighthawk of the Week. The award is chosen each Sunday evening by an award selection committee made up of members of the UNG athletics administrative staff.
