LEXINGTON, Va. — On a record-setting day for the No. 17 University of North Georgia rifle program, the Nighthawks broke the all-time aggregate scoring record, posting a 4651 score after a 2299 smallbore performance and an air score of 2352. Additionally,
Elysa Walter added to the historic performance by breaking the school's individual aggregate scoring record with an 1186 score in their victory over VMI 4651-4528.
Walter led the way, shooting a 592 in smallbore and adding a 594 in air rifle to allow UNG to grab a firm hold on the match as Walter eclipsed her own aggregate scoring program record. The Nighthawks had the top three finishers in the match with
Madison Kennedy and
Maya Cameron following. Kennedy contributed to the day with an aggregate score of 1159 after a 583 in air rifle and a 576 in smallbore.
Cameron shot 570 in smallbore, adding a solid 593 in air rifle to finish with an aggregate score of 1163.
Courtney Allison finished sixth in the event with an air rifle score of 582, recording an aggregate finish of 1141.
Alysa Yancey came in seventh, right behind Allison, shooting an aggregate score of 1139.
The Nighthawks look to continue the momentum from their record-setting performance with a neutral site match against Jacksonville State in Statesboro, Ga. on Sunday, Nov. 5.
