DAHLONEGA — At the 10th Annual LeeAnn Noble Memorial tournament, the University of North Georgia women's golf team finished eighth overall in their fall home event at the Achasta Golf Club. The Nighthawks competed among perennial NCAA Regional participants, finishing eight strokes away from a top-five finish.
Amari Smith led the North Georgia lineup for all three rounds, finishing in a tie for 10th at four-over-par. Smith led the event after shooting a three-under-par 69 in the first round, sticking around among the top ten finishers after shooting a 77 in the second round and a two-over-par 74 in the third.
Ellie Rippee and
Abby Franks followed, moving in tandem for the tournament, after both shooting 76 in the first two rounds and wrapping up the event with a 77. Rippee and Franks finished in a tie for 33rd at 13-over-par, giving the Nighthawks stability in the lineup.
Danielle Humphrey finished out the scoring lineup for North Georgia's "A" team, shooting a three-over-par final round, finding eight pars with just one bogey on the front nine in the third round, tying for a spot in 52nd.
Lainey Panter finished in a tie for 47th, leading the North Georgia "B" squad in the event. Panter found trouble on the front nine but put it together on the back nine, shooting one-over-par in the final round.
Jadin Ware finished in a tie for 63rd, wrapping up the North Georgia "A" team's lineup, while
Camryn Wright (t-67),
Chanley Box (t-73) and
Kennedy Noe (t-79) rounded out all North Georgia golfers in the event.
No. 7 Anderson claimed the team title for the second consecutive year and third overall by shooting a final round six-under as a team. Findlay's Mary Kelly Mulcahy claimed medalist honors with a 70-71-71--212 as she was the only player to shoot under par in all three rounds.
No. 5 Findlay finished second while No. 11 Lee rounded out the top three teams.
Lander's Ella Nilsson posted the day's fireworks with a hole-in-one on the 158-yard par three fifth hole.
Carol and Joe Gelderman, parents of LeeAnn Noble, were on hand to issue out trophies at the awards ceremony. The ceremony included the scholarship presentation of the LeeAnn Noble Memorial Scholarship to UNG's Ellie Rippie.
