Men's Basketball Wins Third Straight in 70-64 Win at Clayton State

MORROW, Ga. - Frank Champion and Malik Hardy led all scorers as the University of North Georgia men's basketball team won its third straight game in a 70-64 win over Clayton State Wednesday night.

Clayton State jumped out to the early lead, but the Nighthawks responded by keeping the game within five points through the first 13 minutes of the game. The Lakers stretched the lead out to seven at 30-23 late in the first half before UNG finished on a 6-2 run to trim the lead to three at the break.

The Nighthawks scored the first six points of the second half to take the lead before the two teams traded the lead up until the 12:09 mark when the scoreboard read 41-41. UNG quickly pushed a lead out to seven points and kept the lead out greater than three points the rest of the night to earn the win.

NOTES
- Champion led all scorers with 25 points, while Hardy scored 22 points off the bench. Kody Shubert was the only other Nighthawk in double figures with 10.

- The Nighthawks took a season-low six three pointers, hitting three of them. It was the first time since November 28, 2014, that UNG shot less than 10 three pointers in a single game. In that game, North Georgia was 5-for-8 from distance in a seven point win over Chowan.
