DAHLONEGA - Three University of North Georgia baseball players were named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Southeast Region Team, the association announced Wednesday afternoon.
Nik Levensteins and
Cade Heil earned first team honors, while
Crews Taylor secured second team accolades.
Levensteins, a sophomore from Arvada, Colorado, hit .338 with 19 homers and 62 RBI, adding 11 doubles while posting a .763 slugging percentage. He had 54 hits and 49 runs scored on the season. He was named first team All-Peach Belt and the Elite 16 Award winner. He is a consensus first team All-Region honoree, having been named to the D2CCA and NCBWA first teams already as a designated hitter. He was also named a third team All-American by the NCBWA.
Heil, a junior from Suwanee, Georgia, finished the year with a record of 8-1 in 14 starts for the Nighthawks. Over 80.2 innings of work, he surrendered 54 earned runs while fanning 54 batters, walking just 18. Heil earned first team All-Conference honors this year and is named to an All-Region team for the first time in his career.
Taylor was a preseason All-Region honoree in 2020 and earned second team All-Conference honors as well as a spot on the All-Tournament Team in 2021. He hit .303 on the year with 15 doubles and 15 homers and 46 RBI as the centerfielder for UNG. Taylor was named a second team outfielder by the NCBWA earlier this postseason.
Heil and Levensteins, by being named first teamers, are now eligible for All-American status from the association. Those awards will be announced Friday.
