DAHLONEGA - The No. 27 University of North Georgia baseball team hit five homers as they sailed past Salem, 15-4, in Friday's series opener at Bob Stein Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park.
North Georgia got things going quickly in the first off a
Brady Eeles RBI double that plated a pair before a
Nik Levensteins sacrifice fly made the score 3-0. After the Tigers plated a pair in the top of the second, UNG got one back in the fourth on a
Jake Howard solo blast.
Salem answered with a solo homer in the top of the fifth, but the Nighthawks responded right back, scoring two in the sixth and three in the seventh. The Tigers got one back in the eighth before the long balls started flying out in the bottom of the eighth.
Andres Perez and Levensteins hit solo bombs, while
Will Hardigree and
Crews Taylor had two-run blasts to get the game to its final score.

Cade Heil (7-0) got the win, going 6.1 innings and striking out five. He surrendered three runs off five hits and a walk.
- Five Nighthawks went for multiple hits with Perez, Hardigree and
Jake Arnold collecting three hits each.
