ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The No. 16 University of North Georgia women's tennis team fell short Wednesday in their bid to reach the Peach Belt Conference championship by dropping the semifinal match to No. 14 Flagler, 4-1.
The Saints took the doubles point, winning 6-1 on the third line and 6-4 on the top line.
Cibeles Zuddy tied the match up with a quick 6-1, 6-2 win on the third singles line.
North Georgia led in three other singles matches at the time of Zuddy's singles win, but the Saints stormed back to keep the match rolling, ultimately winning on the first, fourth and fifth lines to seal the win.
UNG will now await selections to be announced for the Southeast Regional to be held in Dahlonega next weekend. As of Wednesday's regional rankings, the Nighthawks are No. 4 with five total teams to be selected for regional play.
