SALISBURY, N.C. - The No. 22 University of North Georgia baseball team lost a pitcher's duel against No. 12 Catawba Tuesday afternoon, 3-1.
The Indians scored a pair in the third inning, starting with a solo homer that broke the scoreless tie through 2.5 innings. A RBI double pushed the Catawba lead to 2-0 before the Indians scored their last run of the game in the fourth on a fielder's choice.
North Georgia got on the board in the ninth with a leadoff homer from
Tim Conway, but that was all the Nighthawks could get.
NOTES
- Conway went 4-for-4 on the day, finishing with three singles and the homer. It's his first career four hit game.
- Tuesday marked the first time that the two teams met outside of NCAA postseason play since 2009. Catawba now leads the all-time series, 3-2.
