DAHLONEGA - Just under two weeks from first pitch, the University of North Georgia softball team has announced the 2021 slate of games to include 26 games inside the friendly confines of Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium at Lynn Cottrell Park.
All of the 2021 games in the regular season will be contested as doubleheaders.
The season kicks off on February 7 as the Nighthawks head to Montevallo. Five days later, UNG will open up the home schedule with a 10-game homestand, starting with West Florida on February 12. On February 14, the Nighthawks will take on Hillsdale, followed by Southern Indiana on February 20, Wingate on February 21 and Southern Wesleyan on February 25.
North Georgia will travel north to Cleveland, Tennessee, to take on Lee on March 6, opening up a month of games mostly on the road. The Nighthawks will open PBC play on the road at Flagler on March 13. Other road games include Union (March 17) and UAH (March 23). UNG will play at home in March against Shorter (March 9), Lander (March 27) and Augusta (March 30).
The Nighthawks will take on Young Harris to open April on the road on April 3 before a six-game homestand starting on April 6 against AUM. UNG will also host Columbus State on April 9 and Georgia Southwestern on April 11. The final road trip of the year is a six game stretch in Peach Belt action, starting with Georgia College on April 18, Francis Marion on April 23 and UNC Pembroke on April 25.
North Georgia will finish the regular season at home with a twinbill against Union on April 28 before Senior Day festivities on May 1 against USC Aiken. The conference tournament will be contested on May 4 and 7 in a single elimination format with the top four seeds earning berths to the tournament. Games will be contested at the higher seed throughout the tournament.
