AIKEN, S.C. - A six-run first inning proved the difference as the No. 20 University of North Georgia baseball team fell to USC Aiken, 12-4, Saturday afternoon at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. It was the first loss of the 2020 season for the Nighthawks.
UNG jumped on the board first, taking advantage of a Pacer error to scratch a run across early. The Pacers answered with six runs in the bottom of the inning, but North Georgia answered in the top of the second, plating a run on a fielder's choice to cut the lead down to 6-2.
USC Aiken put up four more runs in the fourth, using a two RBI double and a two RBI single to push their lead to 10-2.
Andres Perez cut the lead down to six in the fifth with a two-run blast, his fifth of the season, but that was all that UNG would get. USCA scratched two more across, both on fielder's choices to claim the win.
