AIKEN, S.C. - The No. 14 University of North Georgia men's tennis team fell Saturday morning to No. 5 USC Aiken in the opening round of the 2019 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional, 4-1.
North Georgia took the early advantage in doubles play with a 6-4 win at No. 3 by Kevin Candido and
Zack Waldow, but the Pacers fought back to win the doubles point, taking a 6-4 win at No. 1 before a 7-6 (7-0) win at No. 2 to clinch the point.
From there, the Pacers took control of the match in singles, taking the first singles match to finish at No. 5 in straight sets.
Niklas Zielen cut the lead down to 2-1 with a straight set win at No. 1 singles, but USCA won at No. 6 and No. 3 to clinch the match.
North Georgia made its sixth appearance in regional play in program history with the bid as the No. 7 seed in the tournament.
