Men's Tennis Earns Sixth Straight Win With 5-0 Victory

ORLANDO - The University of North Georgia men's tennis team extended their winning streak to six matches on Tuesday as they took down Texas-Tyler, 5-0.

The pairings of Jess Jones/Niklas Zielen and Ryan Gaskin/Hugues Renaud remained unbeaten on the season as they won at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, respectively. Both matches were won by the same scoreline (6-2) with Jones and Zielen clinching the doubles point.

The Nighthawks started quickly in singles play, with Jones, Gaskin and Renaud all moving a set up with relative ease. Kevin Candido and Zach Waldow were given a chance in the singles lineup and Waldow certainly took his opportunity, recording a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles to clinch the match. Renaud and Gaskin were the other singles winners, winning their matches 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1. Jones won 6-1, 6-2 at the same time as Waldow to earn the fifth point.

UNG are straight back tomorrow for their next match, a 3 p.m. outing against Florida Southern. The Nighthawks are now 9-1 on the year and are halfway through their four game roadtrip.
