DAHLONEGA - After Georgia College stormed back in the second half to force overtime, the University of North Georgia men's basketball team went on a run in overtime to pull ahead and then held on for an 88-83 win over the Bobcats Saturday afternoon.
The Nighthawks held a nine-point lead at halftime, but Georgia College got hot in the second half, shooting the ball at a 53.3 percent clip to draw even and force extra time.
In the extra period, North Georgia went on an 11-2 run to take a nine-point lead and then had to fend off a late push by the Bobcats to earn their 11th win of the year.
NOTES
- The overtime win was the first extra-time victory for North Georgia since the season opener last year against Emmanuel. UNG has been in three other overtime games, all close losses prior to Saturday's game.

Shawn Hopkins led five Nighthawks in double figures with 16, while
Zach Cottrell added 15.
Zez Steeple and
Roderick English each had 13, and
De'Undra Singleton had 10.
- UNG shot 52.3 percent (34-for-65) from the field.
- Prior to tipoff, the men's basketball program honored its two seniors: Hopkins and
Quincy Poitier.
