DAHLONEGA - Trailing by nine with just over six minutes to play, the University of North Georgia men's basketball team fought back to force overtime, but the Nighthawks could not finish the comeback as they fell to Tusculum, 60-57, in overtime Saturday night in the UNG Convocation Center.
The Nighthawks finished the second half on a 13-4 to force overtime where UNG took the early lead on a
Bailey Minor lay-in with four minutes to play in the extra period. The Pioneers took the lead shortly after, but
Carrod Watson got a basket to tie the game at 55 before Tusculum hit a three pointer that gave them the lead for good.
NOTES
- North Georgia led early in the first half by as many as six before TU went on a run to take the lead. The Pioneers led for the majority of the contest, tallying over 24 minutes with the lead.
- Minor led UNG in the scoring column, tallying 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor. Watson also finished with double figures, scoring 10 points.
- UNG held the Pioneers to the second-lowest offensive rebound total of their season with 19. Tusculum is the No. 2 offensive rebounding team in the nation, averaging 22 offensive boards a contest.
