DAHLONEGA - On the final day of the regular season, the No. 35 University of North Georgia men's tennis team fell to No. 8 Flagler, 7-2, at the UNG Tennis Complex.
Ryan Gaskin and
Mark Laishley gave the Nighthawks a point in the doubles matches after falling behind early in the match at No. 3 doubles. Flagler claimed the other two doubles matches and the first two singles matches as well to jump out to a 4-1 lead.
Ryan Gaskin almost pulled off a massive comeback against Flagler's Alexander Chepik at No. 1 singles. After falling 6-4 in the opening set, Gaskin won the second set, 6-0, to force a third where Chepik took the set and clinched the match for FC with a 6-2 third-set win.
The Nighthawks got their final point of the afternoon by virtue of a three-set win by Kevin Candido at No. 5 singles, winning the tiebreak set, 10-5.
North Georgia will now await the release of the PBC Tournament bracket after play finishes tomorrow. The tournament is set to begin on Friday, April 20.
