DAHLONEGA - After a three-run first from Georgia College, the University of North Georgia baseball team battled back but ultimately fell to the Bobcats, 9-6, in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Bob Stein Stadium.
The Bobcats led by four after 2.5 innings before the Nighthawks' bats started putting runs on the scoreboard. Two solo homers by
Chase Sudduth and
Steven Tomlinson in the third cut the lead in half, 4-2.
Georgia College answered with two runs of their own in the fifth inning, but
Andres Perez got them both back with a two-run blast to right field, bringing the game back to a two-run contest.
Conner Corbitt brought the game even closer in the bottom of the seventh with a solo bomb to lead things off.
Jake Arnold then tied the game up with a sacrifice fly that scored Perez, bringing the score to 6-6.
The Bobcats were able to push three runs across in the ninth inning to bring the game to its final score. UNG didn't go quietly though, putting two on with two out, giving the Nighthawks the chance to tie the game at the plate.
