Men's Basketball Clinches Tournament Berth With 103-92 Win Over Lander

GREENWOOD, S.C. - Five Nighthawks finished in double figures, including a double-double by Tyler Dominy, as the University of North Georgia men's basketball team defeated Lander Wednesday night, 103-92, to clinch a spot in the Peach Belt Conference quarterfinals next week.

North Georgia hit the first three baskets of the game to jump out to an 8-0 lead. From there, the Bearcats and Nighthawks battled back and forth until the 11:00 mark when UNG stretched the lead to double figures for the first time at 34-22.

Leading by 12 at halftime, the Nighthawks extended the lead out to as many as 17 points before Lander started to battle back, cutting the deficit to as few as six points late, but clutch free throw shooting iced the game for UNG to spoil Lander's final regular season home game.

- Carrod Watson was 5-for-6 from the field, including three made threes, to tally a career-high 16 points.

- The Bearcats got all 92 points from six players. Five of those players finished in double figures.
