DAHLONEGA - Shawn Hopkins notched another double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds as the University of North Georgia men's basketball team picked up its first Peach Belt Conference win of the year against Augusta, 65-62, Wednesday afternoon.

With 5:35 left in the game and a tied score, Hopkins scored five straight points, hitting a three pointer, then stealing the ball away and throwing down a dunk to give UNG all the momentum.

The Jags fought back though, keeping the score close, but two UNG free throws with 0.9 seconds left iced the game away, giving the Nighthawks a good finish to the 2018 calendar year.

NOTES
- Zez Steeple also finished in double figures for the Nighthawks, tallying 15 points. Augusta's Rafael Monteiro led all scorers with 19 points.

- Augusta led the game by as many as 11 points, taking a 36-25 lead late in the first half before UNG came back.

- Both teams had 32 points in the paint.
