FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The University of North Georgia men's tennis team got off to a hot start to the season, winning their season opener against Emmanuel, 7-0, Wednesday.
UNG took home the doubles point by virtue of a 6-2 win by
Niklas Zielen and Frederico Kuiper at No. 3 doubles and a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles by Zach Waldow and Kevin Candido.
From there, the Nighthawks swept through the singles matches, winning each in straight sets.
Ryan Gaskin won at No. 1 singles in the most competitive match of the day. He needed a tiebreaker in the first set to win 7-6 before a 6-0 shutout in the second set.
UNG will next hit the court on February 2 in the home opener against Lenoir-Rhyne. First serve of the match will be at 11 a.m.
