DENVER - Trailing by as many as 17 points in the second half, the University of North Georgia men's basketball team battled back but fell just short in an 84-74 loss to Regis Friday night in the Hilton Garden Inn Denver Cherry Creek Classic.
The Nighthawks brought the game back to a three-point deficit with 5:43 left after a
Shaquan Cantrell layup, but the Rangers finished the game on a 13-6 run to pull away late and secure the win.
NOTES
- Cantrell finished with 19 points and currently sits one point behind Anthony Rowe for North Georgia's NCAA-era total points record. Bennett Fuzak and
Ebo Smith also finished in double figures with 15 and 13 points, respectively.
- UNG shot 42 percent from the field and finished with 40 points in the paint.
- The Nighthawks assisted on 15 of their 30 made baskets.
Ephraim Tshimanga led the team with seven assists.
