FLORENCE, S.C. | The No. 22 University of North Georgia men's tennis team rebounded from a quarterfinal setback to No. 13 Georgia College to post an elimination round victory over USC Aiken and advance to the fifth-place match of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center.

The Nighthawks, ranked fifth regionally, improve to 16-7 overall with the split.

Against GC, the Nighthawks split a pair of tiebreaker doubles decisions and entered singles on the short end of a 2-1 score.  Lukas Moritzen Andre Canino earned a victory in the second doubles line for North Georgia.

The Bobcats secured a spot in the semifinals with three singles victories, including two in which the first set stretched to a tiebreaker.

Against the Pacers, it would be the Nighthawks that carried a 2-1 edge into singles where Philipp Mueller, Moritzen and Canino posted straight set victories to send the Nighthawks to tomorrow's fifth-place match.

The fifth-seeded Nighthawks will now face sixth-seeded Francis Marion tomorrow (Apr. 24) at 1:00 p.m.
