No. 16 Baseball Falls at Georgia College 5-1 in Peach Belt Play

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | The 16th-ranked University of North Georgia baseball team lost their third consecutive Peach Belt Conference game as they dropped a 5-1 decision to Georgia College Friday evening at GC's John Kurtz Field.
 
Georgia College led 2-0 through three innings after Dylan Cook hit a two RBI double up the middle. Both runs were unearned.
 
North Georgia answered in the next frame when Steven Tomlinson scored on a Bo Edwards RBI groundout to cut the lead in half.
 
In the sixth, Matthew Miller got the run back on an RBI single to center field. The Bobcats scored the final two runs in the eighth on a Brandon Purcell two-run homer.
 
NOTES
- North Georgia is now 11-5 and 4-3 in PBC action, while Georgia College improves to 8-7 and 4-3.
 
- Three of the five Bobcat runs were unearned as the Nighthawks committed a season-high three errors in the field. 
 
- Bryce Bush (3-0) got the win, pitching two innings of two-hit relief. Bradley Spinner started for the Bobcats and pitched four innings. Brandon Agar (2-1) was tagged with the loss after going seven innings and striking out four.
 
- UNG left 10 runners on base.
 
- Devin Gearhart laid down his seventh sacrifice bunt this season, taking over first in the conference in the process.

The two teams will square off in game two of the three-game series tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
