MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Behind 21 points from
Ebo Smith, the University of North Georgia men's basketball team collected a pivotal 75-67 Peach Belt Conference win at Georgia College on Saturday afternoon in GC's Centennial Center. The freshman guard led all scorers behind a six-for-11 effort from behind the three-point line.
North Georgia had all but 10 of its points scored by its starters, with four of the five reaching double figures.
Sean Brennan added 16 points for North Georgia while
Shaquan Cantrell and
T.J. Williams added 11 and 10 respectively. Brennan pulled down a team-best eight rebounds.
The Nighthawks made good on 21-of-50 shots (42%) compared to the Bobcats' 21-of-61 (34%). North Georgia also held a decisive 43-33 edge on the glass.
The Nighthawks sealed their 15
th win with a 20-6 run over a five-minute span late in the second half.
Terrell Harris led GC with 17 points while Larrentis Thomas pitched in with a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds.
North Georgia (15-8, 9-7) concludes a three-game road trip on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at USC Aiken. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
