GAINESVILLE, Ga. — A blistering pace in the second round helped North Georgia move into second place at the 2nd Annual Mizuno Intercollegiate at the Chattahoochee Golf Club. The Nighthawks have two teams in the mix at the event, with the other lineup finding itself in a tie for fourth.

Jack Vajda leads all North Georgia golfers at seven-under-par, holding sole possession of second place after catching fire in the second round, improving from his three-under-par in the first to four-under-par in the second. He sits a single stroke behind tournament leader George Durkin of Lincoln Memorial who is eight under (67-69).

Hughes Threlkeld is second for UNG, sitting in a tie for tenth after shooting a three-under-par score in the second round, earning four birdies with just one bogey.

Noah Zediker and Ethan Day follow, shooting two-under on the day and in a tie for 12th after 36 holes. Threlkeld jumped up 12 spots in the second round, but Day also added a second-round improvement, moving up 23 spots on the leaderboard.

Myles Jones carded a one-under day, grabbing a tie for 17th place. Gabe Larson is just behind him in a tie for 25th at one-over-par, making a run in the second round and moving up 20 spots on the leaderboard. Hunter Smith went on a tear on the second 18, scoring three-under-par and moving into a tie for 36th, 42 spots up from his first round. Colby Bennett also added a two-over day, tying with Smith at 36th, along with Stephen Kinsel.

Rhett Smith (T-49th), Grant Langford (T-68th), Garrett Horton (T-87), Dayton Humphrey (T-90), and Connor Horton (94) round out the Nighthawks competing in the event.

North Georgia will open up with a shotgun start in the third round, with an 8:30 a.m. tee time, looking to catch the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial, who hold the top spot on the leaderboard. Columbus State and Lee hold third and fourth place, with the second North Georgia team holding the fourth spot in a tie with Lee.
