COLUMBUS, Ga. – The No. 12 University of North Georgia women's tennis team begins Peach Belt Conference championship play Friday morning against seventh-seeded Young Harris in a rare postseason version of the Battle of Blood Mountain series. The Nighthawks have advanced to the semifinals in the past four tournaments, finishing runner-ups in 2019.

North Georgia took care of business in their first meeting against the Mountain Lions, defeating YHC 6-1 at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek. The winner of the quarterfinal match will take on the winner of #3 Georgia College and #6 Augusta on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

Players to Watch
Viktorie Wojcikova has played in the top singles flight in all but one match this season, earning first-team All-Conference in singles and doubles, becoming just the third player in program history to accomplish the feat. Wojcikova complied an 11-7 record this season, facing some of the nation's best all season.

Johanna Lippert earned her second All-Conference selection in singles and doubles, earning second-team honors in singles last season and first-team honors in doubles in 2021 before being named alongside Wojcikova in doubles and earning second-team honors in singles. Lippert earned a 5-1 conference record in singles this season.

Anna Markvartova finished the regular season with a record of 12-5 overall and 5-1 in conference play, earning the first All-Conference selection of her career. Markvartova stepped up in championship tournament play already this season, picking up one of North Georgia's most significant wins this season, taking down the tenth-ranked player in NCAA Division II to help the Nighthawks take third-place at the ITA National Championships.
