ALBANY, Ga. — A breezy and brittle afternoon at Doublegate Country Club ended with the No. 1 University of North Georgia sitting in fifth place at the GSW Hurricane Invitational after 36 holes of competition. The Nighthawks shot a team score of 295 in the first round and 294 in the second to finish the day at 13-over-par.
Noah Zediker led for UNG on the first day, shooting two-over-par to place himself into a tie for 14th place. Zediker shot one-under in the first round, moving up and down with four birdies mixed in with three bogeys. In the second round, he shot three-over, dropping down on the leaderboard but staying within striking distance just three strokes out of a top-four spot.
A three-way tie for 22nd follows for North Georgia as
Ethan Day,
Stephen Kinsel and
Jack Vajda all find a spot in 22nd after shooting four-over-par on the day. Day struggled out the gate in the first round, carding a four-over scorecard before picking up the pace to finish with an even-par second round.
Kinsel and Vajda battled on opposite ends of the spectrum for the day, with Kinsel shooting one-over in the first and three-over in the second as Vajda shot three-over-par in the first before battling back with a one-over finish in the second.
Hughes Threlkeld rounded out the Nighthawk's lineup, finishing the day at nine-over-par in a tie for 52nd, while
Colby Bennett, playing as an individual, sits in a tie for 23rd after shooting four-over-par.
Lander sits in first place in the event after 36 holes, looking to take a surprise victory over four nationally ranked top-ten teams in the event. The Bearcats are led by the clubhouse leader, Linus Jonsson, who holds sole possession of first place at five-under-par.
