MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - After falling in the first doubles match, the No. 24 University of North Georgia won each of the next eight matches to blank Georgia College, 7-0, Wednesday afternoon.
The Bobcats quickly earned the upper hand in doubles action, winning 6-2 on the No. 3 line, but the Nighthawks answered with a 6-2 win by
Ryan Gaskin and Kevin Candido on the top line before
Daniel Ostap and
Zack Waldow clinched the opening point with a 6-3 win at No. 2.
Singles play went fully in UNG's favor with five straight set wins, but the match clincher happened at No. 2 singles. Ostap fell in the first set, 6-4, but responded by winning the next two sets, 6-2 and 6-0, to earn North Georgia's fourth point and claim the victory.
The Nighthawks will be back on the court Sunday when they take on Wingate in a neutral site match at Columbus State. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
