During the 1986-87 season, the Lady Saints rewrote the record books, finishing as the Runner-up in the NAIA National Championship in Kansas City. North Georgia finished the season 27-4, which serves as the most wins in a season during the 1980s and the most under head coach Lynn Jarrett.
The Lady Saints put together a fantastic regular season in which they started 15-0. They carried that momentum into the playoffs, taking down the defending National Champion Francis Marion in the Bi-District Championship.
Coach Jarrett's team was led by a strong group of eight returning players and five new members to the program. During the postseason, Brenda Hill Gilmore and Gretchen Smith were both named to the NAIA All-Tournament Team, and Hill was selected as the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Hill brought home even more individual accolades, being named the National Player of the Year and an NAIA All-American.
The roster includes Stacy Bennett, Laurie Burkett, Lisa Crosby, Kim Davis, Sara Gaddis, Fonda Gravitt, Brenda Hill Gilmore (Class of 2011 Inductee), Cindy Hoyle, Charlene Jones, Sheron Jones, Connie Lummus, Annette Rogers, Gretchen Smith and Cindy Swanson.
