Gurley Vaults Way To Chick-fil-a Nighthawk of the Week Honor

DAHLONEGA – University of North Georgia freshman track and field student-athlete Journey Gurley has been named the Chick-fil-a Nighthawk of the Week for March 8 as announced by the athletic department on Monday.

Gurley cleared 3.8 meters in the pole vault to set a new UNG and PBC record in the event. Her mark is a NCAA provisional qualifying standard and was the lone first place finish for North Georgia in the Susan Rouse Invitational in an event that saw the Nighthawks have 18 top 10 finishes.

The Nighthawk of the Week title sponsor is Chick-fil-a of Dahlonega, with each week's winner being treated to a complimentary combo meal at the Dahlonega restaurant.  Located 488 Morrison Moore Parkway East, Chick-fil-a loves to give back to the local area and is proud to be a community partner with UNG Athletics.

Beginning in the fall of 2014, the UNG athletic department began honoring one student-athlete each Monday morning as the Nighthawk of the Week. The award is chosen each Sunday evening by an award selection committee made up of members of the UNG athletics administrative staff.
