CHARLESTON, S.C. - Ruthanne Conner shot a 584 in smallbore, breaking the previous individual smallbore record, as the University of North Georgia rifle team competed against some of the best rifle teams in the country Saturday at The Citadel.
North Georgia broke team records in smallbore with a score of 2291 and aggregate with a score of 4608.
Conner finished in second place overall in smallbore, breaking Matt Settele's previous record of 581.Â
Dakota Spivey finished in eighth in air rifle with a score of 588.
Eric Azotea finished with personal records in both air rifle and smallbore, while
Kimberlee Nettles finished with a personal best in air rifle as well.
No. 1-ranked West Virginia won the five-team event by 73 points, outdistancing No. 9-ranked N.C. State.Â
The NCAA Test Match was held inside McAlister Field House, where The Citadel will host the 2018 NCAA Rifle National Championship.
The Nighthawks will travel to Ole Miss to take part in the Ole Miss Invitational next Saturday, September 30.
