Rifle Grabs Second Consecutive SEARC First Place Finish

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Behind a smallbore first place finish from Heather Johnson, the No. 19 University of North Georgia rifle team posted a first place finish at a Southeast Air Rifle Conference event hosted by Georgia Military College on Saturday afternoon in GMC's Parnell Rurak Athletic Building.  The first place finish is the sixth of the season for the Nighthawks, and the second consecutive SEARC title.

North Georgia outdistanced the other five schools, including four NCAA Division I programs by over 200 points.

Johnson's smallbore score of 569 earned the freshman from Dahlonega top honors.  Ruthanne Conner finished third (561), while Morgan Tritt was fourth with a score of 552.

Conner collected a runner up finish in the air rifle competition with a score of 582, followed by Tritt in third with a 577.

Darren Kasl tallied a new air rifle personal record of 575 (6th place), bettering his previous benchmark by three points.

North Georgia returns to action on Feb. 21 when the team travels to The Citadel for the SEARC Sectional event.
