DAHLONEGA - After serving as a graduate assistant for two years,
Molly Child has been named the new assistant coach for the University of North Georgia softball team, head coach
Mike Davenport announced Tuesday morning.
Child came to North Georgia two years ago to serve as a graduate assistant for Davenport. During her tenure as a graduate assistant, Child helped lead the Nighthawks to two Super Regionals and one NCAA Division II Softball Championship Tournament. Prior to coming to Dahlonega, Child played at Anderson University in South Carolina.
Child started all 220 games from her freshman year through year senior season and was a three-time First Team All-South Atlantic Conference selection. She received All-Southeast Region honors in her sophomore and junior campaigns. In her sophomore year, Child was named a Daktronics All-American with a .405 clip at the plate that included 13 doubles, 14 home runs, and 53 runs batted in.
The former Trojan played in Dahlonega during her collegiate career as Anderson was in the 2015 NCAA Division II Southeast Regional field, going 1-2 in the four-team tournament.
