DAHLONEGA - Ricky Medina broke his personal record in smallbore for a second consecutive day, but the No. 17 University of North Georgia rifle team fell just short of defeating No. 19 UT-Martin Sunday at the COL Raymond C. Hamilton Rifle Range. The Nighthawks defeated UT-Martin's women's team to finish in second place at the event.
Medina shot a 571 in smallbore that included a perfect 100 string in his fourth set of shots. The freshman coupled his personal best with a 581 in air rifle to finish as the top Nighthawk on the day.
Kimberlee Nettles continued her strong weekend with a 587 in air rifle to finish third in the discipline. UT-Martin's Joe Martin and Kaitlin Korinek finished first and second overall, respectively.
The Nighthawks will next jump back into SoCon action as they take on the Citadel and Georgia Southern on Saturday, October 21, in Dahlonega.
