DAHLONEGA, Ga. — In a battle of top-20 teams, the 20
th-ranked University of North Georgia rifle team was edged by 19
th-ranked UT-Martin by just 15 points in a four-team event hosted by the Nighthawks in their final appearance of the season at the COL Raymond C. Hamilton Rifle Range. North Georgia shot an aggregate score of 4,581, pairing a 2,272 in smallbore score with a 2,309 in air rifle.
UT-M's Joe Martin was the top aggregate shooter with a 579 in smallbore and 583 in air rifle for a total of 1,162 to finish just four points ahead of UNG's
Dakota Spivey with a 1,158.
UT-Martin women's team finished third with a 4,544, while Georgia Southern was fourth with a 4,486.
SMALLBORE
UNG's
Ruthanne Conner's 573 was good for second place out of 32 shooters. Spivey (570) and
Tobin Sanctuary (569) also posted top-five finishes for the Nighthawks. Sanctuary's score bettered his previous record from just a week ago.
AIR RIFLE
North Georgia was paced by Spivey's 588 with Conner pitching in with a top-five score of 581.
